Symbols are an integral part of human communication. They play an important role in the formation of identity and the expression of political will - they serve to identify, demarcate and disseminate Islamist ideology. In addition, they have a high effect on young people. However, it is important to differentiate between religious symbols of Islam and Islamist symbols.
Islamist symbols are a complex and multifaceted issue. With our game: Islamist Symbols – Expression of Identity and Ideology, we would like to convey an understanding of the meaning of Islamist symbols and explain their meaning in the context of Islamism.

Islamic symbols are those that are commonly used in Islam and have a positive meaning. These include, for example, the crescent moon and star, the Kaaba in Mecca or the color green.
Islamist symbols, on the other hand, are used by extremist groups to spread their ideology and mobilize their followers. These often include religious symbols used in a radical context, such as the sword or the black flag.
