Military Defense Capability: Comparing NATO and Russia
"Defence capability" refers to the ability of a state or group of states to protect itself against military threats and attacks. NATO has an enormous military power at its disposal, as its forces are pooled. If only because the United States, as the world's strongest military power, is a NATO member. The interactive graph shows all member states and lists important military resources that compare the balance of power with another military power – namely Russia. However, if Germany were to fend for itself militarily, Russia would not be prepared for its opponent. And what if the U.S. pulls out of NATO?
In our interactive graphic, we address NATO's defence capability and ask whether Allies' military strength is sufficient to deter potential adversaries. Defense budgets and individual resources were visualized.
